 In the ‘80’s when disco was at its height and Donna Summer was the epitome of the era, I remember friends having parties and all the females went into another room to dance to Donna …. Only she could get the party rollin’. Even though everyone had their own personal tastes in music … rock, bubble gum, hard rock, pop or soul … everyone came together to listen and dance and sing … off key of course … with Donna! Every guy we knew hated her.  WE loveD her!!! I still today crank-up the radio when she comes on.  I wished I had seen her in concert the last time she was here …. Sniff  …. I missed it!

THE FORTUNATE ONES

The Fortune 500's list of America's largest Corporations came out today. Does it surprise you that within the top 4 are 3 oil companies?  Nooo?  How does our elected government let this happen? During a reported oil "shortage" the shysters persons of business ... dare... post record earnings. How do you make more $$$$$$$$ selling less?  I must of been absent that lecture day in economics class!

BUT why isn't this a top presidential political platform. I hear so little of any resolutions, except to rape and ravage federal and state pristine forests, game lands, parks, etc. ........ don't even get me started about pollution and greenhouse effects!!!!   This isn't hard!!!  We have made strides in wind, water and solar power. All of it is old old ooold technology but yet it seems never to expand beyond a few grid systems. Okay we all know about the lobbyist system in our government and the big contribution machine to political campaigns .... they need a boot out of government too!

20 years ago I remember seeing the invention of hydrogen cars.  Hydrogen a cleaner "burning" fuel when processed to use in a purer state and we have a ton it in our atmosphere. 20 years later there isn't one in my driveway!!! I doubt yours either due to the expense and limited "hyrostations". If someone found a way to make this cheaper, EXXON would be giving their "shortage" away for practically nothing.  I would feel so bad for them  ... sniff sniff

I have been off track for the past month ... eating whatever ... no gym visits ... BUT as I sit here eating my 0 calorie Stevia laced Oatmeal topped with skim milk,  I'm starting to feel a little more self- righteously equipped to preach "healthy" again ....

DON'T EAT WHITE! That's riiiiight. If your food is pure white it could contain Titanium Dioxide. .... It just sounds bad don't it? .....  It's used to enhance the color of white in plastics, paints, paper, sunscreen AND food. It is found in toothpaste, salad dressings ... there goes my blue cheese .... , icings .... oh no CAKE??? ....... pre-packaged sauces, and skim milk ... wait a minute.

Titanium Dioxide has been found to contain traces of lead. Though the adverse effects of ingesting or absorbing  the chemical through the skin  are deemed medically inconclusive, inhaling the dust particles have been found to be cancer causing.

Want to reduce your chances? Brush your teeth with minty green, use olive oils on your salad, cover up some places ... that upper chest area maybe. The girls will be so appreciative .... when you go outside, make your own cakes from scratch  .... What? I should say stay away from cake for the rest of my life? Hey, I'm on a diet not in prison .... even prisoners get cake once in a while!

Patricia is accused of bring her fair-haired 5-year into the tanning booth with her. Depending on which news agency you read, the child went to school with 1st-2nd degree burns. Her parents claim it was sunburn. We shall see .......

But apparently, since Patricia was receiving all this attention she thought it best to also add a spray tan to that "healthy glow"  .... her words ... for the all the camera interviews she felt she needed to give to plead her case to the general public for sympathy??? .... stardom??? ..... the ethical treatment of microwaving ???

MATHEMATICAL HEADACHE

SIGH ........ After spending $520 on a hair cut .... or 2 as the stylist tells it  .... or 15 as Nadya imagines tells it ... AND borrowing $450K last year  .... how much was this house?  ..... to buy the current home for her "children" ...... tomorrow the Octomom house will be on the auction block. Yet, the CYS in California that visited her again this week claim "the children are in no imminent danger".  

Oh the guy who lent her the $450k to purchase the house?  ... he is suing her for it?  Surprise!  

Let's see how many hair cuts does that come to ..... $520 divided by + or - (14) + truth - Brazilian blowout + Radar Online pic purchases - denial + added TV exposure via scandal X multiplied by another CYS visit  ...............

At Easter dinner, my in-laws and I got on to the subject of celebs that are still alive.  My in-laws are music fanatics ..... if I'm EVER on WHO WANTS TO BE A MILLIONAIRE and the question is Rock 'n Roll music I'm calling one of them ..... so they were naming all the music icons of the 50's, 60's still alive. Even I already knew most of the people they mentioned were still alive. So, I joined the conversation and rattled off the old movie stars I knew were still alive! .... I'm pretty sure I topped their 60's Rock 'n Rollers with my 30's/40's golden age of Hollywood icons. As a matter of fact, one of the In-laws looked at me and said "How do you know all this?". THE God Of Organization .... G.O.O. for short ... and chief inspector of health around here, refuses to learn how to use the Tupperware. Before I married him I owned almost every storage container Tupperware made. I'm now a Ziploc goddess but I kept the one thing no one else could make like Tupperware .... THE LETTUCE KEEPER!!! It really really really works in keeping the lettuce fresh. However, I can't convince my GOO to ever use it. Wha? ... brown and wilty not appetizing?

Ah well, since I'm into the phytonutrients now so, I don't eat iceberg anymore anyways .... happy eating GOO!

REMEMBERING EASTER

I was reminiscing this past week about Easter season … not really the religious aspects but activities that surrounded it. Growing up Roman Catholic in a neighborhood where 95% of my neighbors were also of that faith, our school at one time was the largest Catholic school in the Diocese. The grounds of our parish were almost a campus compared to the surrounding parishes. The essence of the local Catholic church's Easter preparation effect on home and community included:

The Parish bazaar – I never realized it till was I was older but technically this was a version of “Fat Tuesday” only over a loooong weekend before Lent. Everyone from the parish attended. They gave away great prizes on the chance wheels too! Huge stuffed animals, 10 lb hams and sugar, bikes, small local merchant gift baskets, etc …. The food? It wasn’t this prepackaged stuff you get at the local carnivals now! Parish woman were tripping over one another cookin’ up a fresh storm in the small “social hall” kitchen. And the gambling …… casinos had nothing on this crowd …. No chance getting a seat at the poker tables let me tell you!

Lenten Eating – Lent was a big limiting the meat intake season. So, my Mom made pierogies. I mean HUNDREDS of them. It took her all day. She made two kinds: potato and dry cottage cheese ….. my favorite! I don’t know how she did it. I tried to make one batch …. 75 pierogies ….. for Christmas. First, try to find dry cottage cheese ….. it’s a dying pierogie art I say. Speaking of a dying art …. my mom also made pierogies the old fashion way with two dough circles NOT that circle fold over like everyone else does now. Her pierogies were how her direct from Poland Grandmother made them resembling mini flying saucers. This is how I make them and I was wore out …… EVEN WITH SOME DAUGHTER HELP!

Lenten Torture – Giving something up you enjoyed and attending Wednesday afternoon marathon STATIONS …… if your Catholic, you know what I mean … ENOUGH SAID!

Lenten Fashion-ista Shopping – When else would you look for a pink, lilac or yellow dress topped off with flowery sun hat and a shiny pair of white patent leathers?

Good Friday – School was closed. All offices were closed. Retail stores were open BUT they closed Noon to 3PM. Noon to 3PM no one in the neighborhood left their homes! If you did you better be going to the hospital emergency room or already in the 3 HOUR STATIONS at Church!

My parish has been gone for years. The school, even after merging with surrounding Catholic schools, closed about 5 years ago. The religious rationale for Easter I have “issues” with and will leave the discussion for those who have a better argument than I. All I can recreate …. sometimes …. is the pierogies!

Easter came early this year ..... Oldest daughter came home Sunday (Mon Tues Wed) to visit for the holiday ..... she has to work on the actual day ..... so, back she goes ..... sniff

GOO still believes his 20-something daughters are 5. He still buys them candy. He still gets out their baskets and fills them. He still hides the baskets and makes the girls look for them. He hid one for me this year too. I guess two young woman scouring the house for chocolate isn't enough. It's much more entertaining when you add a pre-menopausal one in on the chocolate treasure hunt too!

IT SHOULD BE ABOUT IGNORING COMMON SENSE

I have been wanting to rant about the Zimmerman case for the last few weeks since I heard the about the story on my AM news. This new video just gave me the incentive. My planned rant was going to include my total skepticism to the Zimmerman version of the incident. I mean come on, the whole accounting does not add up to “self-defense”!

First, it was around 9 PM on a Sunday night. What self-respecting criminal is looking for a heist at that time of night? Zimmerman …. the self-appointed head of neighborhood watch …… was getting ready to go grocery shopping. Many of his neighbors are awake to make 911 calls because all that screaming for help was disturbing their listening to the court room drama on “Desperate Housewives”.

So Georgie sees a baaad person walking around outside. He calls 911. Have you heard this call? Georgie says the suspicious person has “something wrong with him”! He could tell that all the way from inside his house because he took some criminal classes! Although, Georgie sounds like he had a few of something himself …….. hmmm has to get to the grocery store at 9PM!

He then goes outside while on the phone with the dispatchers to chase the kid ……. and he knows it is a kid because he tells the dispatcher he is a teen ………… and they tell him not to. He is still outside when the call ends and he wants the police to call him when they get to the gated community entrance. Why? You were a good citizen. You made your call. NORMAL people let the police handle it. That wasn’t good enough for a wanna-be-cop hero and able to catch a criminal before he hits the PUBLIX snack aisle Georgie. Already packin’ his pistol for the grocery store he gets in his car and hunts an unarmed kid down.

As Georgie tells it he was fearing for his life because the teenager half his size that he chased down to "corner" for the police was beating the crap out of him. Really???? Even if he was, you couldn't run to a neighbor ..... get back in your car ..... sit on him .... the only answer was shoot him? Now did that make sense? Oh and by the way Georgie that’s not what the new video shows either. There wasn’t a guy beaten to even half a pulp on that video.

What does make sense is Florida police screwed this one up. Let us hope for the sake of our justice system the Feds have a little more common sense from here on out.
